The Cube-Chameleon Puzzle*

Sliding Block Puzzles

by Serhiy Grabarchuk

It is the first and simplest sliding block puzzle of the "chameleon" series. Consisting of just six two-colored square tiles plus one one-colored one, it proposes two related challenges to solve. Every tile can slide to an adjacent free space.

Puzzle 1. Change the yellow-blue cube on the red background into a red-yellow one on the blue background, as shown at left in the small diagram, Goal 1.

Puzzle 2. Then from the start position (click "Restart" to get it again) reach a blue-red cube on the yellow background, as shown at right in the small diagram, Goal 2.

To move a tile, simply click it. Use "Undo" and "Redo" for the respective backward and forward moves of tiles along your solution. Once you solve the puzzle, or have some particular sequence of moves, you can use "Undo" and "Redo" to check all your moves. Use "Restart" to start the puzzle over again.
